Georgian weather in July

In Tbilisi, the air often warms up to +29–30 °C, with an average nighttime temperature of +23 °C. There is practically no rain, the sky is sunny, and it is pleasant to walk around the city.

If you want slightly cooler air and breathtaking views, it is worth exploring the high mountain areas. The town of Gudauri, a winter ski resort, turns into a cozy village in summer. During the day, the temperature reaches +24 °C, and at night +5–6 °C. In the mountainous Bakuriani, the air can warm up to +24 °C or, conversely, cool down to +16 °C. If you are planning to go trekking or hiking, it is worth stocking up on warm clothes in case it gets cold (and for the evenings).

In Borjomi, the daytime temperature is +24–25 °C, and the average nighttime temperature is +10–11 °C. The temperatures are ideal for those who do not feel well in the heat. Moreover, it is an excellent balneological resort.

The peak season is approaching on the Georgian coast. In Poti, the air warms up to +27–28 °C, and at night it is +23–24 °C. The sea water is very warm: +25–26 °C. Rainfall is rare and usually short-lived. In Batumi, Makhindzauri, and Kobuleti, daytime temperatures are similar, but nights are cooler, down to +18 °C. Precipitation is minimal, and it is not uncommon for there to be no rain at all.

In the tourist town of Kutaisi and the balneological resort of Tskhaltubo, the daytime temperature is around +30 °C, and at night around +19 °C. Rain is rare, and the sky is usually clear and sunny.

Rainfall is most common in Sairma, Mestia, and Gudauri. Precipitation is minimal in Tbilisi, Gonio, Kutaisi, Makhinjau, and Batumi.

Weather in July in Georgian cities

Average values for July of the previous year for main cities of Georgia from different parts of the country: Tbilisi, Batumi, Borjomi and Kutaisi.

Weather in Tbilisi in July

July, along with August, is a hot month. The average daytime temperature is +25 °C, and at night +23 °C. In reality, this means that during the day the air warms up to +29–30 °C (sometimes up to +36 °C).

Tbilisi is located in the mountains, so there is always a breeze due to the temperature difference. July is an exception in this regard: the wind is not as strong as in March or April, when gusts reach 17 m/s. The average wind speed in July is 5 m/s, and it rarely increases to 15 m/s. The wind direction is mainly east, southeast.

Almost all days in July are sunny. The sun shines for 12.7 hours a day. The length of daylight hours at the end of the month is 14.4 hours. These figures continue to decrease slightly.

The amount of precipitation in July is 14.2 mm. Humidity ranges from 50 to 70%. This is one of the lowest indicators of the year. After rain, it increases sharply but subsides after two to three hours.

July is the peak month for tourists. The number of travelers increases significantly. This is primarily due to the excellent weather. In addition, the markets offer a real abundance of fruit. There is practically everything — apricots, peaches, cherries, watermelons. The only things missing are strawberries, oranges, and tangerines.

At the end of July, it is worth watching your step more carefully: the number of snakes crawling out of their burrows due to the heat increases.

Weather in Batumi in July

In the resort town of Batumi, July is primarily a beach month. Tourists come to relax on the Black Sea coast, sunbathe, enjoy Georgian cuisine and drinks, and traveling around the country takes a back seat, which is not surprising — the weather is more conducive to leisurely pastimes.

The air temperature in Batumi in July stays at +22…+34 °C during the day, and at night it’s mostly between +16 and +24 °C. At midday in July, it can be very hot outside, and the sun’s rays are at their strongest at this time, so sunbathing is not recommended, and it is better to postpone walks until the morning or evening hours. Swimming and relaxing on the beach is pleasant closer to sunset, and it is nice to walk around the city even at night — in the light of the lights of its modern embankment. During the hottest summer, the air temperature in July exceeded +40 °C, and the lowest temperature was recorded at +12.9 °C.

The sea in Batumi in July is already very warm: the water is heated to an average of +26 °C, suitable for swimming with children. That is why in the middle of summer, the main Georgian resort or its surroundings — also beach resorts — are often chosen by vacationers with children. Batumi is convenient and has particularly warm shallow water: the depth increases gradually, and the water temperature near the shore is always one or two degrees higher.

Batumi has the most humid climate in Georgia, and even in the middle of summer, the humidity is constantly felt, around 60–90%, which can make it more difficult to tolerate the heat. Precipitation is also not uncommon, even compared to the previous three months, with more rain, although not as frequent: the average monthly norm of 168 mm mainly falls in showers, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms. And after a downpour, the sun shines again. About 85% of the days this month are clear.

Throughout the year, Batumi can be windy, but not in July: the wind is mostly barely noticeable (average 4 m/s), but even at a maximum of 10 m/s, it is hardly refreshing.

Nevertheless, due to the possibility of unpleasant surprises, it is better to check the weather in Batumi for the beginning, middle, or end of July not only based on statistics but also on the latest forecasts: the best option is one or two days before leaving for the resort.
