Why you should come to Borjomi?

The city of Borjomi is located in the Borjomi Gorge in the south-east of Georgia, at an altitude of 800-850 meters above sea level. It is a resort surrounded by mountain massifs, which are covered with forests. The population of the town is 13.5 thousand people. Borjomi is located in the gorge of the Kura River, which divides it into right-bank and left-bank parts. The name of the city comes from the words “borzh” (“fortress wall”) and “omi” (“war”). According to an ancient legend, Borjomi was founded as a natural fortress, the walls of which were the Caucasus Mountains. Watchtowers were built on the slopes of the gorge for protection from enemies, the remains of which exist to this day.
Of course, first of all Borjomi is known as a balneological resort. Local mineral water is used for prevention and treatment of diseases of gastrointestinal tract, metabolism, biliary tract and kidneys. You can also take baths with Borjomi water, which is indicated for cardiovascular diseases, problems with respiratory organs and nervous system.
Archaeologists have discovered stone baths in this area, which is evidence that even in ancient times people used the healing properties of mineral waters. In the XIX century, the first factory was organized in Borjomi, and even the royal family liked to visit this resort and be treated with its healing waters – this is confirmed by the preserved photos.
